The Chillfactor FreeBOM is Now Only A Few Weeks Away - Video

28th of July 2016

Mountainwatch | FreeBOM

Snow is on the ground and the season is zig-zagging its way into the memory bank.

The Chillfactor FreeBOM is back again this year. The event that started with a PA system, slushy bumps and a bunch of Buller’s most passionate skiers is now no different.

FreeBOM celebrates all the best things about skiing - community, mountains and self-expression. FreeBOM asks competitors and spectators alike to free their animal spirit. FreeBOM exists to remind us that we can dance down the footpath, ride a chairlift like a roller coaster and share a smile with a stranger.

FreeBOM is not another 80s day. FreeBOM asks everyone to dress-up, to express an inner self or a past self or a desired self. FreeBOM asks competitors to ski with grace, passion and dance the line between chaos and control. FreeBOM asks the crowd to feed the skiers with all their energy and enjoy an afternoon in the mountains.

Skiers will be judged on their skiing fluidity, aggression, line choice and spirit. The format is relaxed and the judges are as much a part of the entertainment as they are looking at the skiing. Prizes will be awarded to all ages and genders based on skiing, dressing, airing, falling and FreeBOMing.

There will be a bunch of awesome prizes from our sponsors The North Face, Oyuki, K2 skis, Mt. Buller and more for the following categories.

FreeBOM Award - Best FreeBOM spirit
The winner of this award will receive 7 nights accommodation in a twin share room at Yuki dake lodge Myoko Kogen. 5 days 'big 4' lift ticket at Myoko Kogen which includes skiing at Akakura Kanko, Akakura Onsen, Ikenotaira Onsen Ski Resort, and Suginohara Ski Resort, plus a $200 bar tab at Jacks Bar Myoko all courtesy of Liquid Snow Tours!
