Global Perspective - Beneath the Border

Snowboarding is growing rapidly, continually increasing the number of lives enriched by the act of sliding mountains. However, it is still confined predominately to North America, Europe and Australia and New Zealand. This is destined to change considering that over the course of each year, snow covers 33 percent of the Earth's land. It seems only logical that something as fun as snowboarding will spread until all 33 percent is being shredded to pieces by stoked out snowboarders. This story, about a young boy from Kashmir, is more evidence of the expansion of snowboarding and the benefits for those who strap in.

Beneath the Border is the ambitious project of a group of Australian filmmakers and producers. To find out more, check out their website at http://www.beneaththeborder.com. They have a crowdfunding page here and sponsorship is all set up and ready to go via a non-profit organisation called Documentary Australia here.

Official Blurb:
Beneath The Boarder is a feature length documentary that follows the life of a young Kashmiri boy, Raja Khan, who is determined to become a Kashmir's first professional snowboarder. Raja lives with his family in the mountains of Kashmir, five kilometres from the disputed Line of Control between the Indian and Pakistan army. He lives under the suppression of the Indian army with limited education, the risk of avalanche dangers and the restraints of society. In recent years extreme snowboarders began visiting Kashmir and Raja watched them curiously as they surfed down the snow-covered mountains. He quickly realised there was more life to the war-torn world he knew.
