ON THE GROUND REPORT

Tues, July 17, 6am: Clear and windy this morning and the temps are milder than what we’ve had the past week, currently +3 in the village and -1.3 up the top. The wind is 45km/hr out of the northwest, gusting to 67ks and is forecast to get up to 85ks later this morning. No snowmaking overnight, but the groomers have done a lot of work on the main runs which will be good this morning. True Blue, World Cup, the Supertrail and the Merritts areas are the picks, but World Cup may be rutted out if the race kids have early access. Plenty of snow blowing around the top and with the forecast winds there should be areas of soft wind-blown snow up around the T-bars, Waimea etc. The winds are the prelude to a cold front due tonight which should bring some snow early tomorrow morning. The models have toned down the amounts since last week due to a big high holding the front to the south, but we should get something overnight tonight and again on Friday. Check out the Grasshopper’s forecast today for the latest update. Have a good day. – Reggae
