Berchtold, Blondel Bring Liberty All Mountain Skis to Oz
Liberty All Mountain Skis have arrived in Australia for the 2010 season.
Founder of Liberty Skis, Dan Chalfant says, “we have had some great success and skiers are loving the durability and performance of our skis. “We have received strong demand from the Australian market with constant requests from both retailers and skiers.”
he skis have won multiple international awards, including Editors Pick and Skiers Choice in Freeskier Magazine in the US, which called them “the best ski ever made”.
To cement an Australian presence, Liberty has signed Australian freeskiing pioneer Andrea Berchtold and big mountain skier Simon Dawes Blondel to its Australian Liberty Team.
“The awards Liberty All Mountain Skis are winning in America is just the beginning,” says Berchtold, one biggest names in the history of Australian skiing. “Their skis are being called the game changers for a reason. Powder, slush, crud, ice, groomed. They are designed to master it all, perfect for Australian conditions,” he says.
Liberty ski construction includes the innovative use of bamboo. “Bamboo has highly beneficial attributes for ski design, providing response, strength and durability all in a lightweight package,” says Blondel, whose company Bent Square Pty Ltd will distribute Liberty Skis in Australia. Bamboo is one of the strongest and lightest natural materials available, with a tensile strength that rivals steel and strength to weight ratio surpassing graphite.
