Remembering Sam Kerr
2nd of March 2017

It’s never easy to learn that a member of our tribe is no longer with us, it’s even harder to digest when you find out it’s someone as loved as Sam Kerr.
Last Saturday, the Dunedin expat was taken by a significant slide in the Niseko backcountry. A place he knew well having spent the better part of 7 years operating his guiding tours out of there. In short, Sam was about as well versed as one can be when it comes to navigating and riding the backcountry.
Sam wasn’t just a respected and trusted guide or a talented snowboarder but he was also a loving father and husband as well. Yesterday, his closest friends from the snowboarding community and afar paid tribute to a man who embodied the spirit of snowboarding. Today both the Australian and New Zealand Snowboard community pulls together and pays homage to Sam Kerr.
A Givealittle crowdfunding page has been set up to alleviate some of the financial pressure Sam’s family have incurred during this difficult time. By donating, you’ll be sure to catch some of those good karma points that’ll lead to an epic powder day, a stomped park run or just that buzzy feeling Sam was known for.
