In the last few weeks at Snow Park in New Zealand, Red Bull held a perfromance camp for a selection of their top snowboarders. For the 2-week session they brought in top coaches from around the globe, they built two big step-up jumps, known to be the safest for learning tricks. They then put a massive air bag on one of the jumps landings so the riders could learn the new tricks before taking it to the near identical jump next to the air bag jump and land the new tricks on real snow.
Australia’s Scotty James, who rode for Australia a the recent Vancouver Winter Olympics, was part of the crew who had this amazing opportunity. Watch the video below from Red Bull to get a look at a new trick Scotty learnt over a few days up at the camp.
