Transfer Snowboard Magazine | Alex Cameron
To coincide with the Cattleman’s Rail Jam, Transfer Snowboard Magazine presented a photo exhibition that included images from the new Photo Book as well as images showing the history of the event. The event was held in the Apres Bar at Mt Buller Chalet, and provided a chance for the local snowboard community to get together before the Cattleman’s event tonight.
The photographs were the lead talking point of the evening, followed closely by tipsy speculation on the outcome of tonight’s rail event. It was hard to tell which image was the most talked about, as two seemed to share the centre of attention. The first was Harro’s image of the famous synchinised back flips at the Cattleman’s event in 2009. Robbie Walker and Jye Kearney hucked themselves either side of the centre rail, and Harro’s image captures the electric moment that both riders are upside down just a foot above exposed stairs. The second image was Jeff Curtes’ photo of Nicolas Muller taken at Mt Cook last winter. A unique combination of feature, lighting and riding produced a photograph rather unlike any other snowboarding image. The photo is one of the eighteen Photos of the Year in Transfer’s Photo Book.
The event brought together the local community together in the spirit of snowboarding. The vibe was mellow, and the large crew simply enjoyed the opportunity to hang out with one another and talk snowboarding. The excitement was saved for the event tonight!
