Interschool National Championships Ready To Kick Off

Australian Interschools Championships at Falls Creek 9-13 September

General Manager of School Snowsports Robert Osborne, said: “The entries for the national titles, to be held at Falls Creek, are flooding in. We’ll know after 5pm today how many school-aged participants will compete at Falls Creek in numerous disciplines.
“There will be between 2,200 – 2,400 entrants in the Australian Interschools Championships with enthusiastic young athletes from every school throughout Australia with the exception of the snowless Northern Territory.
“Queensland is sending a 100-plus children for the first time who qualified through its state titles. South Australia is also sending a considerable number of young snow enthusiasts.”
Francis Jackson, the alpine resort’s Snowsports School Director said: “This isthe third time we have hosted this intense five day event. “I’d expect future instructors, ski patrollers, youngsters who’ll migrate to ski race clubs and even aspiring Winter Olympians will emerge from this top notch group of skiers and boarders.
“With plenty of snow we have access to all courses we plan to use for hundreds of young athletes who’ll will contest a variety of disciplines including Skiercross, GS. Moguls, Cross Country and Boardercross.”
“To gain entry to the finals of the Australian Interschools Championships a team must be in the top five or an individual would have qualified in the top ten of his or her event,” said Robert Osborne GM of School Snowsports.Stay Tuned to Mountainwatch.com for all the news/results and photos from the championships.
