It’s that time of year again, you’re looking for the next pair of skis and chillfactor’s putting the latest models through their paces. First off the rank, two of Dynastar’s top end all mountain skis, both ideal for the advanced Aussie skier.

Type: All Mountain Carve
Price: RRP $1599.00 (Inc binding)
Lengths: 158/165/172/178/184
Dimensions: 122 / 75 / 106

A versatile and stable ski, the Contact 4×4 is excellent for some high speed cranking turns on the groomed. It is responsive, very smooth and easy to ski. Agile in small to medium radius turns as well as very solid in bigger radius turns. At only 74mm under boot it’s narrow, especially if you can only afford a one-ski quiver and is best suited for the groomed and firmer snow.

Price: RRP $1499.00 (Inc binding)
Type: All Mountain
Lengths: 165/172/178/184/189
Dimensions: 132 / 94 / 118
Turn radius: 18m (178cm)

If you want a one-quiver ski for Australian conditions this ski may be what you are after. A full wood core and torsional flex ensure the ski is smooth at speed in all sorts of conditions. At 94 under boot this ski isn’t super fat and is great for medium to big turns on piste – even when it is hard-packed – it also has the width and dimensions for powder, soft snow, crud and spring slush.
