Australia and New Zealand’s Snow iPhone App Lauching for 2010!

April 30th, 2010

The app, which is complemented by a mobi site for the Blackberry and other mobiles, will be the first Australian designed and focused iPhone app for Australian and New Zealand snow resorts.

It’s due for release on May 15 and will be available from iTunes. A link on the Mountainwatch.com homepage will take users straight to the app, which will be free, for a Quiksilver sponsored version, or cost $3.99, for those who like their apps unbranded.

The app will keep Aussie skiers and boarders up to date with snow and weather at all their favourite resorts. As well as being able to see current conditions, users can view snow cams, see the forecasts in video, animated, written and table form, check resorts’ lift, trail and road status and access Mountainwatch.com news and features.

The app can also be programmed to send an alert when new snow has fallen at any chosen resort, so snow-lovers will always know when they can get fresh tracks.

The app’s functionality makes it simple for users to programme in favourite resorts and quickly access the information they are most interested in.

The mobi site will automatically load when users access Mountainwatch.com from mobiles and provide all the content of the Mountainwatch.com website on a phone.

Along with the app, Mountainwatch.com is releasing a snow widget in the coming weeks. Similar in content to the iPhone app, the widget, which can be placed on a desktop or website, will give users up to date snow and weather information along with forecasts and live cams. It also includes a weather-by-postcode function, meaning users can check the weather of any location in Australia.
