It was my first hostel experience and it was awesome! It was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff was nice.
The fact that there is a bar attached makes it so easy to meet people. The chicken tacos were great and FREE BREAKFAST!!!
I'll be staying here again in the future for sure!
We stayed in an 8 bed mixed dorm and although no fault of the hostels itself meant we were kept awake all night by one individual snoring loudly and a couple coming back to the room quite late. The room was very dated and the free breakfast wasn't as good as others we got in other hostels, just toast and cold coffee. The rooms had individual fans for each bed which would have been good if they worked. Not a bad stay overall but I'm sure there are nicer places to stay in Banff for a similar price.
Pros: great location, free breakfast (pancakes and muffins were the best), and pretty big tub in the shared bathroom. Kitchen and fridge space was big enough, but got very hot during certain parts of the day. I enjoyed the quiet common room with the big windows.
Cons: parking was a bit tricky sometimes, but generally I found street parking close by. The space to wash dishes was small and awkward in the kitchen. It’d be nice for multiple people to wash and dry in a larger space. The dining area could get very crowded in the morning or evening. The bed bunks were not exactly built comfortably for tall people. I was really disappointed with how loud the nighttime activities were. I’m not sure how the guest rooms on the other floors were, but it was way too noisy from the Lake Louise room on the first floor. People were coming and going at basically all hours of the night. Young party kids who want to drink until 2am? Sleep on the first floor. People who want to wake up early to hike (which I’d argue is quite a few of us...) please give us quiet rooms away from the commotion. I’ve stayed in many quiet, respectful hostels and I generally avoid the ones with loud events. Also, people who stay in bunk rooms should be aware of respecting quiet hours (read: please don’t blow dry your hair in the room after 11 pm!) So of all the hostels I’ve stayed in this summer, I got the least adequate sleep here.
Really good hostel, staff are as friendly as they come. Good rooms and comfy beds although the bathroom door in 301 doesn’t lock easily.
Breakfast included but very average.
The lock in the main door connecting ground floor with the rest of the hostel needs changed, everyone struggles to open it!
We always managed to get parking on site in June though we stayed during the week
Great little hostel with a great vibe and friendly staff. Though I did have my doubts about the beds as to how clean they were.
