The storm from the north delivered for New South Wales resorts with reports of 10 to 20cm of heavy snow falling. However, Victoria missed out on the goods, unfortunately. High pressure will keep a lid on the weather during Friday and the weekend, giving us great conditions to head up the hill. Northwesters strengthen on Monday ahead of a front which hits Tuesday, bringing an initial bout of rain before giving the upper slopes a dusting of snow later in the day.

Friday 12th September

A fine start, but cloud in western Victoria eventually spreads further east during the day. Southwest winds.

Saturday 13th September

A mint day with just a little cloud hanging about as the southwest breeze gradually turn northwest.

Sunday 14th September

A partly sunny, partly cloudy day, with a little drizzle possible in Victoria. Northwest winds pick up.

Monday 15th September

Another partly cloudy day as northwest winds strengthen, reaching gale force in exposed areas.

Tuesday 16th September

A front from the west spreads rain over the Aussie Alps in the morning, which will pin back to showers behind the front in the afternoon with snow falling about the upper slopes, and then it’ll clear up at night. Gale northwesters also back off behind the front.

Extended Forecast

Looking further ahead, a series of storms are expected to start arriving from around Friday, September 19th, followed by several days of snow and rainfall. It’s still early days, but it’s worth keeping a close eye on as accumulations could be significant during this period.

That’s all from me today, folks. I’m sending out these forecasts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the season. Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday.
