Sep 26 2024 06:48 AM: Well, this is the final snow report for 2024 as the resort announced yesterday that it was closing for the season yesterday afternoon. It was a bad day yesterday, rain all day and we ended up getting a whopping 105mm of rain before the temps dropped around 11pm when it turned to snow with 5cms so far. The temps are currently -2.7 at the base in Perisher and -4.4 up the top, the forecast for SE winds at 30-45km/hr during the day. . . . It is snowing now and snow showers are set to continue over the next few hours, clearing later this morning. It is a case of too little too late but Front Valley is looking very white this morning and the forecast is for a cold night tonight, down to -6 degrees and -1 tomorrow night so the snow will hang in with sunshine and light winds over the next few days before temps climb again on Saturday . . . Take care on the road if you are driving up for "snow play" today as there is snow and ice on the road and chains are required from Wilsons Valley to Perisher. ... .. . Oh well, almost made it through to Sunday but no doubt people will be hiking for a few final turns over the coming days. That's two years in a row we haven't made it through to the long weekend. so next year has to be better, right? . . . . .
