ON THE GROUND REPORT

Jul 26 2021 07:30 AM: (7.30am update - managed to have a better look at the snow. It's just frozen crud and getting wetter. As ugly as it gets... ) We’ve garnered fresh snowfall over night, looking like around the 5-10 cm mark. Hard to tell just now with all the wind that’s been around. Unfortunately the snow is going to look a lot prettier than it will be to ski. Temps have been on a slow but constant rise from 9am yesterday morning where it bottomed out at -5.4 degrees to where it is now at -0.2 degrees at 6.30am this morning. The wind vane has unfrozen too and its showing gusting winds between 17-54kmh from the NW. There could be the occasional snow shower, but I dare say more of a damp drizzle that ices up your goggles no matter how expensive they are. There’s going to be a combo of crunchy and crusty with wind blown pockets snow. Watch out for your knees as the snow snakes will likely be out in force… Today we are heading for a top temp of +2 degrees with westerly quarterly winds veering NW later today. - Harro
