Australian Weekend Forecast, Friday, September 19th – Front, Freshies and Cold Changes Ahead

Mountainwatch |The Grasshopper
After some rough weather earlier in the week, we had an absolute corker on Thursday, with sunny skies, a frosty start and a warm afternoon – proper spring conditions.
It’ll turn a little wet and windy again today, Friday, before the next front brings a cold change overnight Friday, followed by a little fresh snow on Saturday. Snow showers on Sunday turn wet down low again as temperatures climb ahead of another cold change and a little more fresh snow on Monday. High pressure pushing in from the west will bring nicer conditions Tuesday.

Friday September 19th
A front spreads a few showers eastwards throughout the morning while northwest winds strengthen, reaching gale force in exposed areas. Heavier rain develops late afternoon/evening with possible thunderstorms before a strong, cold westerly change brings snow showers overnight.
Saturday September 20th
Snow showers falling to low levels gradually ease throughout the day before clearing entirely in the evening, leaving up to around 5cm of freshies. Strong, cold westerly winds also gradually abate.
Sunday September 21st
Snow showers spread over the Aussie Alps again during the morning, but they’ll eventually turn wet at low and mid elevations as snow levels gradually climb throughout the day. West-to-northwest winds.
Monday September 22nd
An early, cold southwest change brings snow showers throughout the day, leaving a few centimetres of fresh snow.
Tuesday September 23rd
Clouds gradually clear as south-to-southwest winds ease and a ridge of high pressure approaches.
Extended Forecast
High pressure nearby will likely keep a lid on things through to the end of the month, but a few cold fronts may manage to scrape in during the latter half of next week, with showers of rain and snow and strong wind at times.
That’s all from me today, folks. I’m sending out these forecasts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the season. Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday.
