The winter of 2012 was a winter full of grand superlatives and metaphors, epic, amazing, all time, as good as it gets, the phrase “best day of the season” seemed like it was being mentioned one day after the next… The truth is, in my mind and I am sure in many others, this season was the best season Australia has experienced since the spectacle that was the year 2000.
The lifts in Thredbo and Mt Buller slowed to a stop for the last time for 2012 on Sunday 7 October marking the end of the season 1 week after the official planned end at the October long weekend. The fact that the resorts squeezed one more week out of the season is testament to how good it really was.
