Interschools Sydney Division begins Wednesday 14 July

The Travelplan Ski Sydney Division Interschools Snowsports Championships begin on Wednesday in Perisher with what is forecast to be the first snowfall of July.

Event Schedule:

  • Wednesday 14 July: snowboard GS and snowboarder cross – all divisions. Perisher
  • Thursday 15 July: Moguls – all divisions and skier cross – divisions 5 & 4. Perisher
  • Friday 9 July: skier cross – divisions 3, 2 & 1 and alpine – divisions 5 & 4. Perisher
  • Saturday 10 July: alpine – divisions 3, 2 & 1. Perisher

The largest of the three NSW Interschools regions, the Sydney Division Championships will see competitors from Sydney Schools competing in alpine skiing, ski cross, moguls, snowboard cross and snowboard GS across five age groups in four days of competition in the hope of securing a place at the NSW Sate Interschools Snowsports Championships in August.

Competitors race in teams of three or four and success is based on combined times – with the top five teams in each event progressing through to the State Championships. Individual success is also recognised with medals for first, second and third placed individual competitors in each event.

Competition is fierce in the Sydney Division, with reigning overall National Champion School, the Scots College, the ones to beat in both the primary and secondary schools categories.

The Sydney Division event follows the Northern NSW Division event, which ran July 7 – 10 at Thredbo. The Kings School, Pymble Ladies College and Newport Public School were overall champion schools. See the results from the Northern Division here

Snow is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday and is expected to clear for Friday and Saturday, bringing a welcome fresh cover of snow for the competitors to race on.
