Listen up, because we will only say this once: If you weren’t in the mountains at the weekend you blew it. It was sublime. As predicted by The Grasshopper the storm arrived with an entree Tuesday night, but the real action wasn’t to come until Thursday into Friday. Reggae Elliss swore that the rate of snowfall on Friday morning was the heaviest he’d seen in years up at Thredbo.
All in all, the majority of the major resorts received between 40 and 60cm of fresh snow across Thursday and Friday before the sky broke bluebird on Saturday morning. Resorts across NSW and Victoria were scrambling to open up terrain across the weekend, providing plenty of action for skiers lucky enough to be there to enjoy it. By all accounts nearly the entire mountain was skiable, with some of the highlights being Thredbo’s Gold Course Bowl and associated sidecountry. Anyway, enough with the words, these photos really speak for themselves.
