The Shortcut To Landing Perfect Backside 540’s – Trick Tips
Transfer x Burton | Trick Tips
When it comes to breakthrough tricks, the backside 540 is the catalyst that’ll take your riding into the next dimension.
Considerably one of the more timeless tricks a practitioner of freestyle snowboarding can have in their repertoire – the backside 540 is that next logical step in your progression. While most snowboarders can muster a 360 variation – going the distance and tacking a further 180 to the rotation really separates the punters from the performers. The key to locking down back five’s is familiarising yourself with the final blind rotation and riding out switch.
Canadian Snowboard hotshot Mikey C is back in the booth, showing you how to save money on chiropractic fee’s by stomping that final rotation first time ‘round.
Watch closely as Mikey breaks it down into its three core elements:
- Takeoff
- Board and Body Placement
- Landing
Stay air-aware! With the first 360 complete you’ll be able to spot your landing and set you self up for the final 180.
Do’s:
- Commitment is king here, going the distance on that last rotation is all about that 110%
- There’s no need to pre-spin too much, the motion to spinning a backside 3 is very similar but you’ll be throwing your rear shoulder a little more.
- Become familiar with riding and landing switch, even if you start out by practicing this rotation of cut-outs and cat-track poppers.
Dont’s:
- Believe it or not but the 540 rotation can come around rather quick. Don’t rush in and huck one straight off a large jump. Build up your confidence on smaller jumps and get familiar with where you are in the air.
- Don’t try and cork this spin too hard as you want to be putting down your landing gear when you’re level.
- Grabs will also keep you composed when spinning, find the one that works for you and have it aid you even if you’re sending it off the local Hollywood booter.
