The Mountainwatch and Transfer office was struck with the sickening and tragic news last week that Mountainwatch/Transfer Magazine Editor, Louis Macindoe and his girlfriend Tori Van de Stadt suffered serious injuries in Bali after a hit and run incident.
Much-loved and talented editor Louis and Tori, had been holidaying in Indonesia for the last couple of weeks after a big snow season. On Wednesday 30 November, their final night away, they were on a motorcycle in the streets of Bali when they here hit by a car and thrown from their bikes.
The pair were luckily attended to by medically-trained passers-by that included two nurses and army veterans as well as an Australian man who managed the scene and contacted the family, who noticed their barely recognisable bike and the two Australian’s unconscious on the side of the road. The quick thinking by these good Samaritans saved their lives as they both had severe bleeding and Tori had an obstructed airway.
Tori has been airlifted to Perth for treatment. Louis is currently in a stable condition and Tori remains under an induced coma with severe facial and spinal injuries.
The road to recovery for the two after this devastating accident will be long and with medical costs expected to exceed $60,000, the couple’s friends and family have set up a GoFundMe page to assist their treatment. There is also a charity night is being held this Friday 9 December at 7PM at the Family Hotel in Newcastle with a massive silent auction featuring generous prizes from Thredbo, Burton, Transfer, 3CS and Arbor. We are encouraging our close-knit snow community to support where possible to aid the best possible outcome for both Louis and Tori.
