Australian Weekend Forecast, Friday July 31st – Fresh Snow, Blue Skies & Another Top-Up on the Way

Mountainwatch | The Grasshopper
We’ve had the best snow conditions of the season after this week’s storm delivered a much-needed 15-20cm boost on Tuesday and Wednesday. Coupled with cold temperatures and a tonne of snowmaking, conditions have improved markedly.
High-pressure drifting past now settles things down for a fine and fantastic end to the week, with additional snowmaking keeping the groomers in perfect corduroy.
A weak cold front freshens things up again early next week, bringing snow showers on Monday into Tuesday with another 5-15cm on the cards.

Friday 31st July
A mostly sunny day with cold, southerly breezes dying away. Though Mt Baw Baw will see a fair bit of cloud at times. The snow guns will keep pumping out the artificial fluff morning and night.
Saturday 1st August
A blue-dome pearler with northerly breezes. Snow-making temps again early morning and at night.
Sunday 2nd August
Fine and cloudy spells with strengthening northerly winds. There’s a chance of a spot of drizzle or light flurry or two, particularly in Victoria.
Monday 3rd August
Occasional snow showers develop early, then strong, chilly northwesterlies gradually back off.
Tuesday 4th August
Occasional light snow showers continue, predominantly in Victoria as it’ll be more in the firing line of cold west-to-southwest winds.
=Extended Forecast
Snow flurries may linger into Wednesday before cold winds finally ease for a couple of fine, settled days as high pressure drifts overhead.
The storm window opens up again sometime between Saturday the 8th and Monday the 10th of August, with a series of passing storm systems expected to bring a mix of rain and snow. There’s potential for decent snow totals, but models are still at sixes and sevens on the details, so we’ll have to wait closer to the time before pencilling in any numbers.
That’s all from me today, folks. I’m firing out these forecasts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the season, and an extra update on Sundays during peak season. Have a great couple of days, and I’ll see you back here on Sunday.
