Legendary French Big Mountain Skier Christophe Henry Dies in Accident in Chile
Mountainwatch |News
Sad news out of Chile after Chamonix skier and big mountain legend Christophe “Tof” Henry, 38, died in a tragic accident on the Puntiagudo volcano in Chile’s Los Lagos region. Chilean mountain guide Juan Señoret also died in the incident when, according to early reports, the pair fell in a steep, exposed zone while skiing from the 2439m summit.
Photographer Mathurin Vauthier was with Henry and Señore on the expedition but was not involved in the accident and is reportedly uninjured.

Not one for hop turns in steep terrain, Tof was renowned for his fast open turns on challenging big mountain lines. A born and bred in Chamonix skier, he was regarded as the “fastest skier in Chamonix” and leaves a lasting legacy in Chamonix and the freeriding world.
Our thoughts are with Tof and Juan’s family and friends.
