西高東低 (sei kou tou tei) means “high pressure in the west, low pressure in the east” referring to the classic weather pattern that brings the world-famous snow to Hokkaido in the north of Japan.

This is the fifth and final episode of this series and the crew again heads to the Daisetsuzan National Park in Central Hokkaido in search of deep snow. However, while they find some fun pillow lines there’s no light blower powder on this trip, the warm spring-like temps baking the snow, although volcanic steam vents make for a good back drop.

Pep Fujas, fun in the sun.

The Project: In January 2020, Oyuki team riders Pep Fujas, Eric Jackson and Toshiya ‘Kassun’ Kasuga embarked on a search for Oyuki (big snow). The snow was hard to find this season, but that just meant that the crew needed to get creative. Using local knowledge and guided by the weather, the team scored epic conditions, and had a lot of fun along the way.
