Both Selwyn Snow Resort and Mt Baw Baw have announced that this Sunday, September 7th will be their closing day for the 2025 snow season. The two low-elevation resorts are located on the periphery of the Great Dividing Range, receiving less snowfalls than the major resorts and despite last weekend’s storm have a thinning snow cover.  Visitor numbers to the mountains also traditionally drop off after this weekend and the final weeks of September are rarely economically viable.

In a press release Mt Baw Baw said that “While the season has delivered some great moments, moving forward the weather will make it difficult to maintain snow on the runs without constant use of the factory.”

“The winter season will finish on Sunday with the traditional Pond Skim on Hut (a trail will remain around it for snowsport use) and Tobogganing will be free on the Frosti Frog Toboggan Park.”

After a couple of tough season, Selwyn Snow Resort enjoyed a much better winter tis year and thanked all the guests who visited in 2025.

“From first turns to family tobogganing and everything in between, you’ve made this season one to remember. … Join us this weekend for one last chance to enjoy the slopes, share the Selwyn vibe, and make some final memories before we say goodbye to winter 2025.”
