Mountainwatch | Podcast Interview
In this episode of the Chillfactor podcast Reggae Elliss chats with Australian pro skier Billy Lloyd Blainey. Billy grew up in Melbourne and developed his love for skiing through family holidays to Falls Creek. His skiing career started in classic ski bum fashion, working night jobs in falls Creek and later Mt Hotham so he could ski during the day. That lead to season’s overseas where he got into freeskiing comps and exploring the backcountry.
Over the past few years Billy has been more focussed on filming and content production and he released his first film, aptly titled Passion, two years ago. His new project was filmed in Iceland last northern hemisphere winter and is due for release at the end of 2024
Reggae with Billy in late August he was in Jindabyne do some training in the airbag and had also filmed a double back flip at the infamous Charlotte Pass road gap for a Porche commercial. Billy’ not your average pro skier and has an interesting take on life and some god stories to tell.
