Victorian Ski Resorts to Reopen For Regional Victorians Tomorrow

Mountainwatch |News
The up and down snow season continues in Victoria, the pendulum swinging back towards positive with today’s announcement that the current Covid lockdown will end in regional Victoria at 11.59pm tonight and the Alpine Resorts can reopen again from tomorrow.
Schools, retail and hospitality venues in regional Victoria can reopen under the restrictions that were in place prior to the latest lockdown, which is good news for businesses in the resorts and local regions. The previous requirement for a negative COVID test for all visitors aged over 12 years within 72 hours of visiting the resorts has been adjusted to a ‘strong recommendation’. The latest update of restrictions is published here.
Mt Buller, Falls Creek and Hotham have announced they will have lifts spinning tomorrow while Mt Baw Baw will have food and beverage outlets and the toboggan park open tomorrow and lifts will open on Wednesday. Buller expects to have 14 lifts open while Falls and Hotham have not yet announced the number of lifts set to open, so check our Falls Creek and Hotham snow reports tomorrow morning for the latest updates.

A press release this afternoon from Mt Buller said that businesses “are delighted to get their doors open and welcome visitors into the resort once more.”
“We feel for our friends in Melbourne doing the hard yards in lockdown but can reassure everyone our team will work hard to keep the ski area humming along safely and we hope to see all of Victoria back for a slide as soon as possible,” explained General Manager Laurie Blampied.
“Forward bookings have been strong in resort, but the lockdown will force many guests to cancel their snow travel plans. It’s a silver lining for those in regional Victoria hoping to get to the snow, as there will be some availability opening up and the snow conditions couldn’t be better right now.”
A reminder that only regional Victorians will be permitted to enter the Alpine resorts and visitors will be checked on arrival.
We all hope that there will be no more lockdowns in Victoria and that Melbourne skiers and snowboarders will also be able to head to their favourite resort soon. There is still two months left in the season and given the deep snowpack it should be a good spring.
