Snowfalls have hammered New Zealand’s alps over the last week or so and the fresh snow has transformed the Southern Lakes straight into full Winter mode, just in time for the opening of Coronet Peak this weekend.
The best news is it hasn’t stopped since then with resorts reporting another 20 – 25cm of fresh this morning.
Photographer Vaughan Brookfield took advantage of some clear weather last Thursday 30 May, and flew around in a heli to survey the snowfall… What else do you do pre season in Queenstown?
