Have you ever been in the situation where everyone is trying something new but you feel that little bit more hesitant, like you need an extra little bit of encouragement but no one is around to push you? Just like when you’re skiing, when everyone has decided to hit a new jump or rail, but you just can’t find the confidence? I’ve been in this situation, many times, and if it weren’t for the amazing girls who I grew up skiing with and still shred with today, I would still be waiting to hit that jump.
Lucky for the lady shredders of Australia there is now a program that aims to gently encourage girls past this initial state of fear, into an awesome environment of shredding, learning and a whole ‘lotta pink.
Chicks with Stix is a grass-roots program that seeks to get girls involved in freestyle skiing and snowboarding. We offer girls a chance to ski and board with the best snow-sports athletes in Australia and help them to get an insight into what our sport has to offer as well as helping them improve their skills in bumps, freeride, slopestyle and big mountain.
We travel the Australian Alps hosting freeride sessions, at no cost, at all the skis resorts of Victoria and NSW to any girls who want to join in. The program is best suited to riders who are intermediate plus and are comfortable and confident on blue runs. Our average age is between 10-30 years old but all ages are more than welcome! If you haven’t already, check out our new website for more details.

Sportaroo Fundraiser – We need your help!
Chicks with Stix is 100% volunteer based; our amazing coaches, ambassadors, organizers, designers and bloggers all give their time freely to make this epic program happen.
In partnership with our sponsors and Sportaroo.com, we are running an online campaign to raise funds for this winter. The money raised will go towards all our PR and Marketing campaigns (advertising our FREE freeride sessions around Australia) and our website, as well as being used to support our volunteer coaches during the weekend freeride sessions.
Sportroo.com is a fundraising platform that helps you get behind unique sporting programs just like Chicks with Stix by ordering merchandise, products or sponsorship packs. The catch is that the orders and the funds are only processed when the campaign achieves it’s funding target. So it’s ALL or NOTHING.
We’ve set our goal high and are aiming for $8000 by July 4th 2013. We’d be worried but with so much great product donated by our sponsors and with so many passionate supporters- we know we can get there.
What you can do:
- Jump online and check out our Sportaroo campaign at www.sportaroo.com/chickswithstix
- Find something you’re stoked on, whether it is some CwS stickers, a CwS membership, a new pair of boots or even a trip away to Perisher for * five days.
- Order your choice
- Share the campaign online with your friends and other snow lovers to get the word out about this awesome fundraiser
The Best Part – Once we have reached our goal of $8000, we will release two 2013 season passes care of Thredbo and Mt Baw Baw for two lucky supporters to order.
The CwS coaches have just returned from the northern winter season and are keen to share their experience and knowledge with the female shredders of Australia! See you at the snow!
