13 August, 2010 – Blue skies on Black Friday at Hotham

Black Friday for some…..blue skies and fresh lines for Hotham….
I caught up with long time Hothamite, photographer and telemarker Andrew Barns for an afternoon session just out of bounds. With a solid base and some nice fresh snow we were set for a very enjoyable afternoon.
Why are the turns so much sweeter when you hike? Anyone who has put in the effort of a hike for a fresh line will agree those turns stay with you for a long time. Is it the sweat? Is it the mateship? Is it the freedom? Half a dozen runs later we found ourselves discussing exactly this over a well earned beer! This is what we found only 50m from the chair…..
Fresh line.
Drop that knee.
Afternoon Avalanche gully.
One more line.
taking it all in.
