Valid Monday 11thJuly to Wednesday 13thJuly

We’ve got a great day ahead of us after the snowmakers have buttered up the main trails overnight. A weak cold front brings light snowfalls Tuesday, with a few left over flurries falling during Wednesday. It’s not much, but will be a welcome top up of around 4-7cm in Victoria, and just a dusting of 2-3cm in NSW.

Monday 11th

A freezing start to a fine day with scraps of high cloud overhead, which should make for a beautiful sunrise this morning. The high cloud will start to thicken over Victoria this afternoon. NW winds are light over NSW but fairly brisk over Victoria.

Tuesday 12th

Cloudy with light snowfalls spreading eastwards throughout the morning. The snow may be more like drizzle below 1500m when it first reaches NSW resorts. W-NW breezes, turning SW over Victoria from late afternoon.

Wednesday 13th

A brisk, cold wind will push cloud in from the south, but we should see some sunshine peeking through from time to time. Light snow flurries will mostly hit Baw Baw, but should also show up elsewhere for a time.

Extended Forecast

Thursday and Friday will be under the influence of high pressure, knocking the wind out of an approaching weak front, which will bring only a light snow flurry at best. Temps will remain nice and cold though, so we should see plenty of snowmaking getting done.

There’s a good chance a cold front will bring snow this weekend through into Monday or even Tuesday. Models are rather out of whack with this one however, so we won’t count our lucky stars just yet. Freezing levels may also get a little high during Sunday so we could see some rain soften up lower slopes for a time, and NW winds should blow like mad.

That’s all from me today folks, get out there and make the most of these great conditions. I’m sending out these forecasts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
