Valid Monday 31stAugust – Thursday 3rdSeptember

The official last day of winter. Wow, that just happened! For the most part, it felt like autumn simply merged into spring, skipping that crucial season in between.

We’ll start this week with a couple of fine days before warm NW winds start howling again on Wednesday – when that happens we know a front is usually on the way. This time around, unfortunately, the approaching front slumps to the south during Thursday, bringing only a light dusting up top amongst the wet stuff.

A high cruising across the Aussie Alps will bring fine weather today and tomorrow, before warm NW winds start howling as a front approaches. The front will bring mostly rain as it slumps to the south. Source: Metservice.com (vandalised by the Grasshopper)

Monday 31st

Cloud clearing to a fine day as brisk SW winds ease. However cloud and the odd light flurry may linger over Mt Baw Baw.

Tuesday 1st

A fine day with increasing high cloud and strengthening NW winds.

Wednesday 2nd

Horrendously strong and warm NW winds, severe gale in exposed places, which is likely to affect operations. Other than that, mostly just a mix of sunshine and high cloud overhead.

Thursday 3rd

Rain and drizzle developing during the morning, briefly turning to snow about the tops during the evening before clearing. Strong NW winds again, gale to severe gale in exposed places, argh!

Extended Outlook

A weak cold front may bring snow flurries late Friday into Saturday, before a ridge of high pressure clears things up for a nice quiet Sunday session.

Warm NW winds will then pickup again from next Monday before another cold front hits late next Tuesday or next Wednesday, firstly bringing rain then possibly a light sprinkling of snow.

We’re still eyeing up the middle of the month for the next decent snowfall, and also sometime around the 20th-23rdSeptember for a late season snowfall.

That’s all from me, get out there and enjoy.
