Valid Monday 5th September to Wednesday 7thSeptember

The next few days will bring a mix of sunshine and cloud as a high swings under Tasmania, turning these chilly southeast breezes to the north. The cold airmass will linger, with negative overnight temps perfect for snowmaking, but the spring sunshine is now packing more punch, so daytime heating will destabilise the lower atmosphere a little, causing cloud to bubble up during Tuesday and Wednesday.

Monday 5th

Plenty of sunshine today, but a light, chilly SE breeze will push low-level cloud onto the resorts for at least a time this morning, possibly reducing the visibility. We may even see a few spots of light drizzle/snow, especially at Baw Baw, which should mostly remain in the cloud for the whole day.

Tuesday 6th

A fine, cold start to the day, then cloud will gradually build. Light winds.

Wednesday 7th

Another beautiful, clear and cold start to the day, before cloud bubbles up as the day warms, with a light shower or two possible. Light northerly breezes.

Extended Forecast

A front attached to a low will see rain develop Thursday, with a period of heavy falls likely during the evening as the front passes over. Showers should persist through Friday into Saturday as the low dips under Tasmania, with cooler temps bringing snow to upper slopes. Cold southerlies arrive Sunday, with just a dusting expected to low levels.

Next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday look to be a repeat of those days this week as another high swings by to the south. A cold airmass should lingering as southeast breezes gradually turn to the north, bringing a little cloud amongst mostly blue skies.

That’s all from me today, folks. This week I’m sending out the forecasts Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Have a great day.
