Australian Snow Report, September 18th, 2026 – Final Video Report for the Season

September 18th, 2026

Mountainwatch | Video Snow Report

After two weeks of warm NW winds and some solid rain events in the back half of August, the fragile snow pack across the Australian resorts melted quickly, the Victorian resorts closing on September 6th. Thredbo closed last week, leaving Perisher holding the flag for the 2026 season, the only resort still open with five lifts accessing a fair cover in snowmaking areas.

This is the final snow report for the Australian season and we take a look back at an El Niño winter that started late and finished early, the peak natural snow depth the lowest in 20 years. It was certainly a challenging season but as the “best of” footage in this video show,  it did have its moments. Reggae Elliss reports from Perisher with thanks to XTM performance.
