It’s the first official day of spring my fellow shredders, and after such a fine day yesterday with its warm, slushy afternoon, it certainly feels like it too. Today will be similar, with temps just one or two degrees colder the afternoon should slush up nicely, although cloud cover will take some of the heat out of it.

Cold southerlies during Friday and Saturday will see us dip back into winter temps, with light snowfall likely to favour Baw Baw further to the south where up to 5cm is expected. Only a few flurries are expected elsewhere, but the resorts that are still making snow will fortunately get a chance to make up the shortfall.

Thursday 1st

Plenty of blue sky out there, but cloud will generally increase through the day, and we may even see a spot of drizzle or light flurry show up, but nothing of consequence. A dying NW breeze.

Friday 2nd

A cool southerly breeze will push in a fair amount of cloud and a few flurries, which will be a little more vigorous at southern resorts around dawn where 3-5cm could accumulate.

Saturday 3rd

Chilly S-SE winds will continue to push cloud in, mostly low-level stuff affecting the lower slopes, with light flurries at times and one or two possibly showing up elsewhere. Winds will ease during the afternoon.

Extended Forecast

Sunday through Wednesday should see some good overnight snow making done as the cold airmass lingers over the Aussie Alps, while a high slowly drifts eastwards under Tazzie. A few light snow flurries may also show up during Monday and Tuesday.

That’s all from me today, folks. This week I’m sending out the forecasts Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Have a great day.
