British Columbia’s Coast Range Mountains offer some of the best free ride and ski mountaineering opportunities of anywhere in the world. At their centre lies Whistler Blackcomb which needs no introduction, but nestled between both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains is a classic winter traverse full of incredible terrain.

The ‘Spearhead Traverse’ is truly world class, comparable to some of the greats throughout Europe. Normally undertaken in 2-3 days, it is 35 kilometres of breathtaking alpine terrain that crosses 13 glaciers.

‘Spearhead: Pushing the Boundaries of BC’s Backcountry’  is a classic documentary style ski film that celebrates the history of the route, first skied in 1964, while also asking how do we manage the impact on these spaces as they gain popularity.
