Last week, Transfer had the pleasure and privilege of riding and shooting amongst the Hakuba Valley for Transfer 2015. Sadly, on arrival we heard the news of the death of local Hakuba Legend, Kyota Miyake. Kyota had been snowboarding with friends when he fell off a large structure and ruptured his heart.

Kyota’s sudden and unexpected death has sent shockwaves throughout the Hakuba community and it was clear to us that he had left a lasting legacy. Filmmaker Aaron Hooper, his brother Zach, Forrest Burki and Steve Aoki, were hosted by Kyota last winter while filming for their 2014 release, Sol Food. Aaron and Forrest decided to put together this edit in memory of him.
