Nat and Hanna Send the Ditch | Nat Segal

Nat Segal and Hanna Fisher, two bad-ass Australian freeriders, are ‘Sending the Ditch’ and taking on the Freeride World Qualifier Series in New Zealand.

Nat from Melbourne and Hanna from Sydney, met as teenagers while meandering through the Australian mogul scene. Both lost interest and found themselves in Europe competing on the Freeride World Tour Qualifier Series in 2010- their aim- qualifying for the Freeride World Tour.

The next year they parted ways; Hanna headed back to Europe and Nat followed the snow to Utah to compete on the US Freeskiing World Tour.

After two winters apart, their paths finally crossed once again. This is their story..
Chapter 1: The World Heli Challenge

While Hanna slaved away in a Sydney office, Nat jetted over to New Zealand to compete in the 2012 World Heli Challenge – 2 weeks full of helicopters, powder snow and ripping freeriders. Though the weather did not cooperate for the first week of the Challenge, Nat found many fun things to do in the mountains around Wanaka and friends to play with in the snow. Finally the clouds parted – it was on like Donkey Kong. After two solid heli-accessed days of riding, Nat took out the women’s ski overall. Two solid days of heli accessed riding later, Nat finished the week as the Overall Womens’ ski champion- that’s what sending the Ditch is all about!

Currently Nat and Hanna are nestled deep in the bosom of the Canterbury Clubfields for the K2 Big Mountain Chill Series. Stay tuned for Chapter 2.
