Saturday September 19 saw up and coming Australian snowboarder, Josh Vagne, win both the “Tightest Line” and the “Peoples Choice” award at the Tight Lines award presentations, held at Thredbo Alpine Hotel Pool bar.

Tight Lines was an invite-only online video competition, offering ten of Australia’s best riders one day each to film their perfect non-stop park lap for a share of $5,000 in prize money.

Each invited rider had one day to plan and film their best run or “tightest line” at the Anton’s Park in Thredbo. Once all runs were filmed, each rider’s video was available to view on the Tight Lines Mountainwatch site and each entrant was eligible for two awards: The People’s Choice and The Tightest Line Industry Award, each worth $2,500 in cash.

The People’s Choice Award was then voted on by the general public and the Tightest Line Industry Award was voted on by 20 of the industry’s most influential over a two week viewing period.

Not only did Josh’s park lap video receive the most votes from the general public, it was also voted as the “Tightest Line” by the industry judges. This is Josh’s first major snowboard event victory and he certainly showed he was deserving, winning the respect of not only the crowd but the industry, too. At the age of 15, Josh is certainly heading in the right direction to be part of the next generation of Australian snowboard super stars. By taking out both awards Josh now has $5,000 to help his snowboarding career.
