10 June – “Snow guns were blasting and a few keen skiers and boarder were up early for first tracks on the first day. I also witnessed the new pass scanners being tested today.”

8 June – While a spectacular sunrise alluded him it’s hard to complain when it’s snow-laden skies blocking the sun. Hanno was again up before the sun to catch Perisher and Thredbo at their early morning best.

“This morning was SO COLD” he said of his pre-dawn exploits. The roar of the snow guns and the spray of snow was unrelenting he said – having spent the first few hours of the day running around beneath the furiously churning snow guns. The snowmaking systems are are working round the clock to take advantage of the extremely dry, cold air to produce some spectacular man made snow to augment the natural snowfalls of the past few days.

If you’d like Hanno to capture a Selwyn Snowfields sunrise one morning this week tell us in the comments section below – lets see if we can get him on the Snowy Mountains Highway at 4am one morning this week!

7 June – We convinced our intrepid Thredbo and Perisher photographer Hanno to wake up before dawn, to capture the sunrise over Thredbo and the early morning activity at Perisher – so everyone could bask in the glory of the most exciting pre-season conditions we’ve seen in many years.

The best part – he’ll be sending us a new photo collection each morning this week, that’s a whole week of 5am alarms so we can see just how gorgeous it’s looking in the NSW Snowies… Thanks Hanno.
