Photos from where we’d all rather be… The start to the snow season in the Western United States is one of the best on record, every day brings fresh news of fresh powder somewhere – or everywhere – in Utah, Colorado and California.

In this pre Christmas week alone Mammoth has stopped the snow-world with its almost unfathomable 15ft (that’s 457cm) storm and as of Wednesday morning, 22 December the resort had a snow base of 487cm; Snowbird had a 248cm base and Aspen Mountain 102cm – and Santa will be shaking another 30cm or snow from his sack as he flies overhead for Christmas morning.

For details on the fresh snow, coming snow and snow bases across the Northern Hemisphere, check out the World Snow Wrap Up, Vol. 8
