The Battle For Supremacy pro-team snowboard event just finished up at Mt Buller and the Quiksilver team took first honours and $12,000 cash.

In an hour-long jam session which saw 10 pro teams (20 riders) throw down under lights on the specially built course that included a house, Quiksilver’s pro team of Nathan Perry and 15-year old Tim Laidlaw took out an unexpected victory in front of a stacked field that included the best pros in Australia

Head Judge and TTR world Snowboard Tour judge, Mel Simmons said “Quiksilver easily took the overall win by consistently landing their sick runs together, where as a lot of other teams, although they were doing amazing tricks, it was rare for both riders to land a run clean at the same time”.

Nathan Perry was easily the most stoked person on the mountain at the prize giving, while young shredder Tim looked a little shocked coming to terms with having a $6000 cheque in his hands. Some of the tricks from Quiksilver included a huge one-foot air by Tim Laidlaw over the house and Nathan Perry stomping a massive 50-50 to backside 180 gap from the roof-top box rail.

Best Team Trick went to Team Burton (Jye Kearney and Tom Pelley) who teamed up on the apex of the roof of the house to send Jye Kearney into a huge backflip 25-foot to the landing using Tom’s board as a take-off.

Team K2 were very close to winning best trick with Robbie Walker doing a Fast Plant over the house planting on his teammates (Andy Lloyd) board who was stopped on the apex of the roof.

Team 3CS (Matt Galina and Gus St Leon) also threw a crazy team combo where Gus hit the battle ship rail while Matt aired from the gap jump out 20 feet over the rail missing Gus’ head by centimeters and landing on the sketchy side tranny of the hut mound.

There were many, many more highlights – too many to mention and every team threw crazy tricks, all-in all it was a crazy unique event with all teams riding together and throwing down on the huge jibbable hut, something never before seen. It was great to see all the riders going hard and stepping up to the challenge that Mountain Dew had threw down.

Now the after party rolls to the Moosehead Bar where a free concert with headline Hip-hop act “PEZ” will probably tear the whole house down.
