In this very cool short film from Salomon Freeski TV, director and pro skier Mike Douglas pays homage to the chairlift and its unique contribution to skiing. We all have our favourite chairlift, have dropped things from chairlifts, watched some awesome skiing and snowboarding and witnessed big crashes from chairlifts, and have had some great conversations friends, family and total strangers on chairlifts.

Chairlifts are a huge part of ski culture and  some chairs also access some incredible terrain and there’s plenty of great skiing in the film. In his social feeds Douglas admits he has a “bit of a thing for old ski lifts – there’s a nostalgic warmth that puts a smile on my face and takes me back to when I was a kid.”

We can all relate to that and The Chairlift is a film that does create a bit of warmth and will put a smile on your face. Hit play, kick back and take it all in.

“Though often overlooked and under appreciated, the chairlift may be the single greatest invention in the history of modern skiing. This is a celebration of the device that brings skiers together in a way that nothing else can.”
