SYDNEY, AUS – February 13, 2024 – The North Face, the world’s leading outdoor brand, welcomes New Zealand skier, Ben Barclay, to the Australia and New Zealand athlete team.

Growing up in Auckland, and eventually finding his way to Wanaka, New Zealand, Ben Barclay was building the foundations for a successful freeskiing career at a young age.

Persistence and resilience throughout the pandemic years saw Ben qualify for the 2022 Beijing Games, where he placed 10th in Slopestyle. His competitive career continues, with northern hemisphere winters spent travelling the globe to compete in World Cups.

Ben has been competing on the World Cup Circuit since 2016, and achieved his career best results with a 2nd place at a Slopestyle World Cup in early 2022.

“Ben makes an impression from the moment he drops in. It’s rare to find an athlete who can thrive in opposing environments so early in their career – competitive skiing vs storytelling, park vs backcountry. He is truly a unique skier, driven by the endless possibilities his sport and the mountains can offer. His style, skill, versatility, and creativity will keep our attention for decades to come and we are thrilled to be a part of his story.” – Sarah Hunt, Head of Marketing, The North Face Australia & New Zealand

At just 22 years of age, Ben’s effortless style and creativity is always on display in his competitive runs, but his true form of self-expression takes place in front of the lens. Ben’s repertoire of video parts grows each year, and he is currently working on his first major film project for The North Face with teammate Ben Richards.

Ben just competed in Slopestyle at the World Cup in Mammoth, February 2 – 3rd, placing 6th overall.

“It’s an honour to join the TNF athlete team, alongside some friends and many sources of inspiration. I’m looking forward to working with The North Face and seeing where it takes us.” – Ben Barclay, The North Face Team Athlete
