Over the past two years 17-year-old Australian snowboarder Valentino Guseli has confirmed his position on the international stage with some great results, including a sixth in the halfpipe at the Beijing Winter Olympics, his first Olympic games.

He also placed fifth in the World Cup at Laax and received an invite to the Winter X Games, finishing sixth in a stacked field of the world’s best halfpipe riders.

In the leadup to the Winter Olympics, Val focussed solely on halfpipe events, but this year he also plans on competing in Big Air and Slopestyle. Last week his season got off to a good start in the first Big Air World Cup of the season in Chur, Switzerland where Val made finals and finished 6th.

Reggae Elliss caught up with a relaxed Valentino in Wanaka last month and while 2022 has been a big year, it seems like it is just the start of what of that should be a long professional career.
