Tom Pelley has won the 2010 Cattleman’s rail Jam event, followed by Robbie Walker the winner from 2009 and 2008. Matt Sedunary took out best trick.

In pouring rain and high winds 18 of Australia’s best snowboarders stepped up to battle for over $7,000 cash. The annual event is held on the Cattleman’s stair set in the middle of the Mt Buller village and is the only time of the year that snowboarders are allowed to ride the rail.

The hour-long jam was filled with lots of super technical tricks, with 17 year-old Jye Kearney, Robbie Walker and Tom Pelley standing out as the top 3 contenders from the start.

For the hour long jam session the three went head to head with a slay of tricks. Jye Kearney impressed with some 50-50’s through the kink side-rail, backside 270’s, frontside 270’s and cab 270’s early on.

It was a close one, but in the end Jye just missed out on any money and second place by Robbie Walker who was his consistent self throwing multitude of 270’s on the middle rail, outer rail and gap-to rails. Even throwing a backflip down the stairs for the crowd.

Tom Pelley pulled out in front from both Jye and RObbie after a seriously smooth backside 270 gap to the middle rail that boosted his overall when combined with a number of hammer combinations on all rails. Including his crazy swivels and pretzels -always being would up with ridiculous control of his board.

Best trick went to Matt Sedunary after he stomped a pretty sick inward 270 on the middle rail – a super technical trick considering the tight set-up. Mention has to go to Matt Galina who threw some super technical and balls out backside 270 -hard way gap down the middle rail. Shout out also for Mitch Williams from Buller who rode super smooth all night with some switch nose presses and combos down the middle rail.

The night ended on a bit of a downer when the winner Tom Pelley went down hard on the last hit of the night and badly dislocated his shoulder. Word is still out on his condition – but $4000 might make him a bit happier or at least pay for a holiday to somewhere not raining.

Results:
