World Heli Challenge

The World Heli Challenge will officially begin today, friday 30 July with the Firestarter Party at the Lake Hawea Hotel before the competitor bib draw takes place on Saturday afternoon.

Tomorrow the 40 competitors, including the two wild card entries from the Wild Card Big Air event, will draw their bibs at the WHC dinner at the Lake Hawea Hotel and from Sunday they will be waiting for the right conditions for the two competition days in Mt Aspiring National Park.

The World Heli Challenge has two main competition days, the Freestyle and Extreme Days, but to access the remote competition spots in the backcountry helicopters requires ideal weather conditions, meaning the event has eight scheduled possible days to run the two competitions. The competitors will be treated to a whole range of adventure activities on the ‘down’ days.

On 7 August the event will finish with the ExtreamTV Street Style and Afterburner Party at the Lake Hawea Hotel.
