Press Release
Liberty Skis launched their second season in Australia with style at Fix8 Art Gallery on Saturday 21st May 2011. In line with their boutique brand of award winning all mountain skis and rider driven focus, Liberty put on a boutique party focused on enjoyment of the alpine lifestyle to celebrate the award winning 2012 line of skis and induct their new ANZAC Pro Team members.
Liberty is making a big name for themselves around the world and now in Australia for their award winning focus on performance and quality along with their innovative use of bamboo. The full 2012 range of skis with their colourful and inviting graphics hovered on the pristine white walls, like skis poised to drop into a steep powder line. No one could deny the impressive appearance of the skis, especially the Mutant that was turning heads all night long with its formidable size and eye-catching graphics.
The crowd flooded in and were eager to view the new range and catch up with familiar faces while enjoying the infectious tunes of LaryKan, an in-demand hip-hop outfit on a rapid rise featuring on JJJ. The who’s who of the Australian free skiing community were in attendance enjoying the carefree flow of the evening.
“It’s amazing to be part of such a well rounded, solid team. From our super grom Mitch, to our amazing disabled athlete Murray, to the Aussie godfather Andrea and women’s charger Nat. I am stoked to be involved with these guys.” Said Boen Ferguson on the night.
Liberty introduced their strong ANZAC Pro Team and initiated the new team riders with a thirst-quenching scull from the bamboo yard glasses. In addition to the 2010 ANZAC Pro Team of Andrea Berchtold, Boen Ferguson and Simon Blondel, the Liberty ANZAC Pro Team also now includes:
• Nat Segal: fresh from an amazing winter in America finishing sixth in the Freeskiing World Championships in Snowbird.
• Murray Bartram: a very talented and popular disabled skier who is attacking big lines and pushing the boundaries for other disabled athletes to follow.
• Mitch Reeves: the super grom and future of Australian free skiing, Mitch last year finished 9th in the men’s open World Heli Championships at the tender age of 11. A huge future lies ahead in the sport for Mitch.
• Luke Potts: a New Zealand big mountain skier, pushing the boundaries across the Tasman.
It was smiles all around as the Liberty Skis Team opened the season with a bang and brought their energy and love of the sport and lifestyle to the eager crowd. Watch out for Liberty this season, they are on the move. Liberty Skis extend a huge thank you to Mia Taninaka for her amazing artwork on the night.
