In this episode of the Chillfactor Podcast, Reggae Elliss chats with Australian pro skier Anna Segal who grew up skiing Mt Buller where she first trained as a racer before competing in moguls until switching to slopestyle after leaving school.  It was a good move and she was at the forefront of the sport enjoying a lot of success including winning the first women’s slopestyle comp at the X games, two world championships  and then just missing out on the podium at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

After the Olympics Anna’s focus turned from competition to pursuing a freeskiing career focussing on the backcountry and various film projects, including producing a feature film Finding the Line with her sister Natalie. That road lead Anna to British Columbia and she now lives in Pemberton, skis Whistler and the Coast Mountains, searching out big mountain lines and backcountry powder.

For the last couple of seasons Anna has been filming with Blank Collective Films and features in the recently released Tales from Cascadia which just won best feature at the IF3 International Freeski film festival.

It’s a busy and fulfilling life and a long way from the office job in Melbourne office job 20-year-old Anna envisaged she’d be doing after her competitive career. Hope you enjoy the conversation.
