High pressure will dominate our skies over the next wee while, allowing only weak weather systems to reach the Aussie Alps. The first of such systems will bring a skiff of snow to western Victoria above 1500m on Saturday, and the second will bring a similar amount to NSW and eastern Victoria on Monday. Apart from that, the weather will be mostly fine and calm – perfect for a mid-winter slide.

Friday, August 2nd

Another lovely sunny day with a crisp start for most. The light N-NW breeze will pick up a little in western Victoria.

Saturday, August 3rd

A partially cloudy day for Victoria before a weak front spreads light snow showers eastwards during the afternoon. The snow will favour Baw Baw and Buller, with only one or two flurries showing up elsewhere, and will fall to 1500-1600m before clearing in the evening.

NSW will be fine with just scraps of high cloud overhead. W-NW breezes will be a little brisker in the west.

Sunday August 4th

A fine, calm day with a little high cloud.

Monday August 5th

Extensive high cloud will cover the Aussie Alps during the morning. Light snowfall will likely spread over NSW and eastern Victoria around the middle of the day, falling to around 1500-1600m, then clearing later in the afternoon. Light winds, mainly from the W-NW.

Extended Forecast

High pressure will likely keep a lid on things through the first half of next week, although partially cloudy skies are expected, and chilly westerlies could blow in some light flurries to Victoria. A couple of slightly more active weather systems are picked to bring a mix of rain and snow through the back half of next week, from about late Thursday onwards.

That’s all from me today, folks. The next forecast is Monday. See you then, and have a great weekend.
