We’ve had a couple of grey, windy days, which has affected lift operations. Winds will continue to blow like mad Friday and Saturday as storms keep raging to the south of Australia. However, a passing high will bring calmer, brighter conditions for Sunday and Monday, so these will be the picks of the bunch as we head into the final week of the season. Winds and showers return on Tuesday as the next storm passes over.

Friday September 26th

Another windy day, with gale northwesterlies in exposed areas, causing more headaches for lift ops. Skies will be fairly cloudy again, especially in Victoria, where there’ll be drizzle at times. New South Wales will be a bit brighter, but there’s a chance of a little drizzle in the afternoon here too.

Saturday September 27th

Skies will be mostly sunny, but strong northwesterly winds persist, reaching gale force in exposed spots again.

Sunday September 28th

Westerly winds gradually ease, bringing a calmer day, but skies remain a mix of sun and cloud after some predawn rain in New South Wales.

Monday September 29th

Mostly sunny skies with a northwest breeze. Cloud builds later in the afternoon with showers in Victoria after dark.

Tuesday September 3oth

A passing storm system brings rain showers throughout the day, accompanied by strong-gale northwesterlies.

Extended Forecast

Strong westerly quarter winds and showery conditions are expected to persist through much of the remainder of the season as several frontal systems cross the Aussie Alps. Temperatures should be on the colder side from Wednesday, October 1st, to Friday, October 3rd, with snow falling on mid-to-upper slopes and possibly down on lower slopes, too.

That’s all from me today, folks. I’m sending out these forecasts every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the season. Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you back here on Monday.
